Charity Skydive and Parachute Jump

Skydiving has long been accepted as a popular and effective method of raising funds for charity. By placing oneself in an unfamiliar and challenging environment (and to many an unenviable one), there is considerable scope to encourage financial pledges in favour of your chosen cause from family, friends and work colleagues. Such extreme activities should not be undertaken lightly, however rest assured as we are a British Parachute Association dropzone as well as the others that we recommend who have excellent safety records.

Many people who make a charity skydive/parachute jump do so whilst raising funds for a worthwhile charity cause. London Parachute School are working with charities who will all pay for your charity skydive or charity parachute jump in return for you raising a minimum amount of funds for them. By doing this you get yourcharity skydive or charity parachute jump for FREE and the information on this page explains how you can take advantage of this...
Jump for 'FREE'

In return for raising a minimum amount of sponsorship money a charity will pay for your skydive and training and receive a sizable donation from your efforts at the same time! The minimum amounts you will be asked to raise differ from charity to charity but on average they are as follows:
Charity Tandem Skydive: £395
Charity Static Line Square: £360
Charity Accelerated Freefall: £535
From these sums the charity will receive an average donation of at least £160 and you will receive your charity skydive for FREE!

Simply select your charity from the list above and you can either book online or request a free information pack and sponsorship forms.

All the charities we are currently working with are listed at the top of this page and all of these operate the above sponsorship scheme. If you wish to jump for an alternative cause please call us on 0845 130 7194 and we will see if we can arrange this for you.

Payment systems

With this sponsorship scheme you don't even have to pay all the sponsorship money up front. With most charities you will be required to reserve your place with a small booking deposit and pay for your jump on the day. However, the remainder of your sponsorship money will not be due until at least four weeks after the date of your jump which gives you plenty of time to collect all your sponsorship money - and if you raise the minimum amount of funds (£395 for a tandem skydive, £360 for a static line square and £535 for an accelerated freefall) you will be allowed to reclaim both the full cost of your jump and the booking deposit from your sponsorship money.

HOW TO BOOK
There are 3 ways to book your Charity Skydiving course - online, telephone or paper form. Please have the names, ages, weights and heights of all the jumpers in your group ready. To secure you place on a course, a £50 deposit per person will be needed. We accept most forms of debit and credit card, cheques, bank transfers, postal orders and cash.

Our online booking form will process the same information above using our secure 'Worldpay' online system to confirm your booking and take deposit / payment

Download and complete the relevant Charity organisations Charity Parachute Jump booking form and send it into LPS, we will then process it and get all the details and sponsorship pack back to you asap.

If you book by telephone one of our team will carefully take all the details of you and your group and confirm dates available. The booking is finished off with a deposit or full payment taken over the phone.

It may seem to you that your charity tandem jump is for free. In fact, it is being paid for by the people you approach for sponsorship. It is important to recognise this when requesting funds from them as the last thing they want to perceive is that you are extracting money for your own ends.

Therefore, let them know that by doing such a challenging event, you are raising a far higher total for the charity than by doing an event such as a sponsored run or cycle ride.

Tips For Arranging Sponsorship - Full Fundraising Advice Here

Some of our supporters comment that collecting up the money is harder than taking part in the event itself! To prevent this, try getting people to give you cheques post-dated to shortly after the event date (but no more than six months), as soon as they have pledged to sponsor you.

Always carry a pen and sponsorship form with you, even if you are not expecting to find a person who might agreed to sponsor you.

Give sponsorship forms to friends, family, workplaces and get them out raising sponsor money on your behalf. You can even ask them to set a target to raise a set figure each.

Ask your employers to match your sponsorship pound for pound, that way you raise twice the amount and your employers can get some brilliant publicity – get them to get in touch with the press. We have worked with journalists and TV crews on many occasions.

Invite other people to come and do a parachute jump with you. Having your small team jump with you adds a lot to moral support and the impact against your charity.

Decide a definite date when you plan to jump. People giving money to charity want to know when the happy event will be and it shows them you have actions behind your convictions. Book the course before you start collecting. Booking forms can be found here

Get your closest friends / manager to sponsor you the highest amounts. This helps to set an example as to the level of sponsorship you are trying to attract.

Understand the jump before you start collecting. This helps to paint a picture to potential sponsors of what you will actually achieve. You can take a print out of our information web page on Tandem parachuting.

Do you belong to any clubs or groups? Have a chat with some of your fellow members and see what ideas you can come up with together.

Set a personal sponsorship target to raise and tell people how much you are aiming for.

Visit the website of your chosen charity and get some facts on who you are supporting. Present the case of the charity to your prospective sponsors with quotes such as ... 'your money wil go towards xxxx'

NB If you are using Justgiving's online fundraising page to collect sponsorship for your skydive, it is important that you pay the deposit monies directly to LPS and jump fees separately to your jump centre. Most Charities cannot reimburse any monies paid through your Justgiving page for tax reasons.

UK Skydive are always looking for further Charities to assist in their fund raising activities, please call Martin on 0845 130 7194 to discuss how UK Skydive may assist your organisation.
